As it is in the world, General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) classifies unmanned aerial vehicles into four groups according to their maximum take-off weight. In the SHT-İHA instructions, the requirements of the UAV pilots in these four groups and the requirements for UAV''s flight operations are stated. In the SHT-SCOP instruction, the DRDs are grouped as follows:

UAV 0: The UAVs with a maximum take-off weight of 500 gr (inclusive) - 4 kg.
UAV 1: The UAVs with a maximum take-off weight of 4 kg (inclusive) - 25 kg.
UAV 2: The UAVs with a maximum take-off weight of 25 kg (inclusive) - 150 kg.
UAV 3: The UAVs with a maximum take-off weight of 150 kg (inclusive) and more

Users of   UAV 0 and   UAV 1 are obliged to receive IHA training for their commercial use. In this context, the list of institutions and organizations providing education is updated at iha.shgm.gov.tr.
