The Belgian Naval Component’s new Maritime Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (MTUAS) project team has tested Austrian company Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 unmanned aerial system (UAS).

The trials were conducted between 21 June and 1 July to demonstrate the S-100’s search and rescue and maritime surveillance capabilities, Schiebel said in a 3 July press release.

The rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was equipped with two imaging payloads – the L3 Wescam MX-10 and Overwatch Imaging PT-8 Oceanwatch – as well as with an automatic identification system receiver and rescue drop box for trials in Belgium in a land-based setting in Lombardsijde and a maritime environment in the Zeebrugge naval base.
